The Soudal Open will welcome a field of top players over the weekend of 12 to 15 May. In addition to the participation of Belgian golfers Thomas Pieters, Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Detry, plenty of international top players will be attending the DP World Tour tournament at the Rinkven Golf Club.
One of those international stars is Rafa Cabrera Bello. The 37-year-old from Spain is currently one of the best European golfers and one of the most loved and entertaining players on the circuit. He already has four DP World Tour tournaments to this name and at the moment he is ranked twelfth on the DP World Tour.
Bernd Wiesberger is another one to look forward to at the Soudal Open this week. The 36-year-old from Austria has already got eight professional tournament victories on his palmares.
Another remarkable name on the list of participants is Thomas Bjorn. The 51-year-old Dane has already chalked up 15 DP World Tour victories and has won the prestigious Ryder Cup four times with the European selection (1997, 2002, 2014 and 2018), the Ryder Cup being one of the biggest sports events in the world pitching 24 of the best players from Europe and the United States against each other. In 2018 when Bjorn lead the European selection to victory he was the captain of that team.
Three more participants who have also taken part in the Ryder Cup will be appearing and they are Italian Edoardo Molinari (3 DP World Tour victories), France’s Victor Dubuisson (2 victories) and Brit David Howell (5 victories). There will be a total of 13 players who have at one point been selected for the Ryder Cup participating in the Soudal Open.
We can also look forward to New Zealand’s Ryan Fox (2 DP World Tour victories), currently the number 14 on the DP World Tour, emerging French talent Victor Perez (1 victory), Spain’s Alejandro Canizares (2 victories) and Denmark’s Lucas Bjerregaard (2 victories).
